You can see some pictures of places we have stayed in on previous trips in the gallery below. We stay in mid range, comfortable, small guest houses and home stays. We very rarely stay in places that have more than 8 guest rooms. Generally, you can expect air conditioning and private bathrooms, internet, a mini fridge and a TV in your room.  We try to also have a balcony or some other outdoor space accessible to every guest.  In some remote locations though, facilities can be more basic.

This is a tour for the adventurous traveler and food is no different.   Outside of larger towns, options for Western food are very limited and your guide will introduce you to the varied local cuisine: the good, the bad, the unusual  and if you ask, the weird.  Breakfast is usually at the guest house we stay overnight in but occasionally, we go out.  The typical Taiwanese breakfast is quite varied.  There are steam buns, rice porridge, bacon and eggs, sandwiches and more. Cereal is less common.
Lunch and dinner are always at local restaurants or street stands.   How much we pay really depends on you. Expect a meal without alcohol to cost between US$5 and $20 at the usual range of places we go to.  Again, in more remote locations, food options can be quite limited so the occasional picnic may be necessary.

Below are some images from a recent tour that was a day shorter than this itinerary.  We can also customize it to your needs.  Just use the form on the right to ask.
